Latitude 32™ opened its doors as Charleston Area Federal Credit Union in September 1952. It was founded by federal civil service employees in Charleston who were searching for a better way to protect their savings and provide low-cost loans to fellow employees. The idea was so successful that it spread and the credit union added new employee groups to serve. In November 1998, seeking to provide our unique brand of service to even more South Carolina families, we expanded our charter to include anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, attends school or belongs to any organization that operates in Charleston County and their family members. We started with the vision of a handful of dedicated people and today the credit union manages over $67 million in assets and serves nearly 7000 members in the Charleston area.
